Madeline had her 3yr old check up today. Everything went great. We (by we I mean I) had some concerns...she always has chapped lips even though she is constantly putting on lip gloss, she is such a picky eater and eats very little, and she has been having tantrums. Dr. Stewart assured me that her lips are fine- she just licks them a lot. Her small appetite is typical. And the tantrums...she said they are typical if she skipped them in her 2's, that having a "new" sibling does contribute to them and that time outs are the appropriate form of discipline. Madeline got a bit of a "talking to" for her occasional kicking and hitting by Dr. Stewart which was great- I think kids listen when another adult shows disapproval. They realize that it's not just their parents who expect them to act nice. We came home and I made her a turkey sandwich and some strawberries and she told her Daddy that strawberries will make her "poo poo not hard."
She is 3'3" tall and weighs a little over 33 lbs. She is in the 70th %tile for weight and the 80th %tile for height. She is a healthy, funny, smart, and beautiful little girl that has surprised me with what a joy she has been to be home with every day with Tucker.
We weighed Tucker for fun and he is over 15 lbs. now. What a fatty. He can roll over from front to back and is working on back to front- trying to get those abs engaged. He raises up and almost straightens out his elbows on his tummy. He LOVES Madeline's old bouncy seat. He can grab objects in front of him and seems to understand some correlation when he does something that gets a certain reaction- like kicking and Mrs. Patty pressing the buttons on the calculator at Daddy's office or stomping and me making the surprised face that he laughs at.
We are having a fun summer so far. This past weekend was Tyler's 29th birthday. We partied Friday night with my family and then headed to B town Saturday morning. Tyler and I left the kids with his family and went to Searcy for a 2:12 T time. I drove the cart while Tyler played 18 holes and we had a great day. The weather was perfect but it is difficult to get a good even tan on a golf cart. Sunday we celebrated Tyler's birthday and hid niece Alyssa's 14th birthday. It was fun. Everybody dressed up in costumes and we danced on the back porch. Madeline said it was the best party ever. Gramps and I have a birthday coming up soon and Madeline is looking forward to my purple unicorn theme.
I'm watching Tucker right now play on his play mat and just wanted to make note that he reaches for things with his left hand. There is a bee on the right side of the mat that he is trying to reach with his left hand. He just figured out that he could kick it with his feet. He sucks his left thumb and his right first 2 fingers. Just little things I want to remember.
I feel peaceful today and happy. I am so blessed to have 2 healthy kids and a sweet husband that wants me along for 18 holes AND dinner after. Now to all of the laundry one amasses from being away for 2 days with 2 kids...
