A Princess Tea Party

This picture was taken by my wonderful friend Hannah. It is stunning. This is Madeline with her two friends Chloe and Mary Claire. Thank you Hannah for capturing these girls so perfectly!

Madeline had a choice this year- Chuck E Cheese or a Princess Tea Party. She chose the tea party and I could not have been more thrilled...although as I write this my ears are ringing because we just got home from Chuck E Cheese for her "real" birthday. Anyway, her tea party was wonderful.

Mom, Aunt Sandra, and I started decorating a very "burnt sienna" room at the community center at 10 a.m. By 1 p.m. when Madeline and the other Princesses arrived it was a very pink room complete with a princess chandelier, Madeline's chair "with a veil hanging on it" (Madeline said), and an archway with twinkle lights. When we started discussing the party Mom said she wanted to, "drape the room in organza." And she did.

The activities included mini mani's, a story read by a princess, decorating a princess cupcake, and of course, tea and cookies.

Our WONDERFUL friend Katie was Aurora. She was so sweet with the girls and they LOVED her- everyone except Madeline. I thought Madeline would love being dressed like the "real" princess at her party but Madeline was upset when Katie got there because she "was already the Aurora." She has since told me that all of the other princesses were there and that Katie should have come as Belle or Cinderella- not Aurora. I get it but I never expected that reaction! The party was a lot of hard work to put it together but it turned out really well. Happy birthday to my sweet girl.
