Madeline and I got up and at 'em Monday morning to go and see our friend, Dr. Clint. Unfortunately Dr. Clint was sick but fortunately for us in his infinite wisdom he has hired a WONDERFUL hygienist named Brandy. So we went to see Brandy.
Madeline was playing barbies in the front lobby with Mrs. Hannah while Brandy cleaned my teeth first and we visited about her , my kids, her family, and her desire to have kids but not being sure about when she would be ready to.
Enter Madeline.
She came in several times to have me change a princess's dress and then finally climbed in my lap and laid down on my stomach while Mrs. Brandy finished my cleaning. I couldn't talk so I just listened as Madeline told Mrs. Brandy all about her favorite things. About how her favorite thing to so is snuggle with me. And how she loves to be close to me. About how I am her best friend and that I am special to her. She just went on and on saying the sweetest things. I just laid there and giggled wondering what she was going to say next but the things that I feared she would say, things I am so hard on myself about, were never said. She just gushed about loving me. It was very very very touching.
Brandy said that she felt like God might be talking to her. That Madeline was so sweet she made her want to have a baby.
Madeline and I have had quite a year. We have gotten through it and are closer than ever. I have gotten a handle on being the mom of 2 and although I don't presume to have ANYTHING figured out I do know that our day to day lives (the 3 of us) have gotten so much better. We all understand one another a little better.
The other day we were in an argument and afterwards I asked her what she thought I should do when she acts out of control, when she won't calm down. She said, "you just calm down Mom and that will make me calm down." She's right. When I handle the storms with calm and quiet she is a lot more responsive and apologetic. So that's where we are. Communication is open and she is quite the communicator.
So, my baby and I have made it to 4 and we are going to throw quite the party to celebrate.

Oh, and I had 3 cavities. So, Dr. Clint, we hope you are feeling better and I guess I will be in soon to have those filled. Last night I laid off the "bedtime candy" (my nightly dose of 4 fruit flavored tums after I brush my teeth and before I close my eyes). Madeline's teeth were perfect.
